This math game for third graders helps distinguish between essential types of measurement metrics such as capacity, length and mass. For instance, meter measures length while grams measure mass, liter measures capacity. Further, knowing how each unit of measurement is either bigger, heavier, smaller, longer or bigger is one dimension in the learning. With this game, children will eventually learn how they are distinguished. The game is called ‘Space Dog’ and involves a dog trying to grab his bone in space.

Understanding measurement is a fundamental lifetime skill. People use measurement throughout their adult lives in all walks of life. Building, cooking, sewing, decorating, wrapping, owning a home and more all involve measurement.
