Adjectives: An adjective is a word or set of words that modifies (i.e., describes) a noun or pronoun. Adjectives may either come before the words they modify or after it as in the following examples.

This car is beautiful.
This is a beautiful

Adverbs: An adverb, on the other hand, is a word or phrase that modifies verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. Adverbs usually answer how, when, where, why, or to what extent—how often or how much (e.g., slowly, beautifully, today, outside, in a day).
Examples:

He walks slowly. (This adverb tells you how he walks.)
He walks very slowly. (The adverb very tells you how slowly.)

Her flight arrives today. (This adverb tells you when the flight arrives.)
Her flight will arrive in an hour. (This adverbial phrase also tells you when her flight arrives.)
Let’s go indoors. (This adverb tells where.)
We looked in the wardrobe. (This adverbial phrase tells where we looked.)
Tony left early to avoid the traffic. (This adverb phrase tells you why.)
